Hauling Out in Cape Canaveral
April 18th- May 16th, 2021
We spent several days in Linda and Allen's Slip in Cape Canaveral. We rode bikes and took an Uber to grocery shop and used the pool at the marina. We even witnessed several Space Ex launches while we were there! Our haulout date was Tuesday April 27th.
Everything went fairly smoothly, I just bumped into the dock a little bit and dinged the rub rail but that is what they are there for I guess. We had some thru hulls replaced and re-caulked our huge port and starboard windows to prevent tear streaks down the hulls. We also had the boat waxed and replaced our escape hatches. It was hot and dusty sitting on the hard. Also, while grinding away the frozen escape hatch pin screws, Kevin injured his neck. He spent the next couple of weeks in pain, knowing he had done something significant given his growing weakness in his left arm. Climbing up and down ladders to access the boat on the hard was taking its toll. Thank God we had access to the clubhouse. At least it was air conditioned and Kevin could find some short term relief laying on the couch. He kept hoping it would get better.....
We were put back in the water and again moved to Linda and Allen's slip to wait until we had the weather to travel north and eventually back home.
